Remote Speech to Text allows Deaf and Hard of Hearing people to access this service at their work place or conference using computers and the internet to access the service. The Speech to Text Reporter will be providing the service from their home. Special software is used to share the Speech to Text Screen along with the audio being fed via Skype or down a phone line. This can work well as long as there are good audio links and a stable internet connection.
Suitable Remote working environment: Small meetings with up to 5 people around a spider conference phone or equivalent boundary/desk microphone Skype meetings where everyone is “Skyping” in. Conferences where an audio feed can be supplied direct from the sound system, set up by professional audio technicians. A good quality laptop with stable internet connection for the deaf client’s use. Again this laptop could be projected for a group of deaf people to view in a conference setting.
This type of service has it’s limitations and if the above requirements cannot be met, then a Speech to Text Reporter in attendance will be required.
If you would like to try this service, I am happy to provide a free hour’s trial. To see how much the service costs, please visit my Charges page.
